October Wrap Up

In the month of October I read a total of 4 books. I've been super busy with my animation course at University so haven't been able to read as much as I'd like. At the beginning of the month my reading so on average but currently I'm reading Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen and with the increased work load I'm struggling to get through it.

The first book I read this month was in fact a manga. Fullmetal Alchemist (3 in 1) Volume 3. I read the whole of this series a couple of years back and really enjoyed it. I'm currently revisiting the series. This manga follows brother Edward and Alphonse Elric who loose their Mother when they are young. Throne of Glass

Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas is the first book in a young adult, fantasy series. The novel follows a captured Assassin, Celaena Sardothien, in her fight for freedom.

In this first book we join Celaena Sardothien working in a Salt Mine Death Camp in a land called Endovier. After a day working in the mines the Assassin is summoned to a meeting with a very important visitor. This visitor entices Celaena with a deal. Win a competition for him and her freedom will be granted. However, there's a catch. If she wins she has to serve the family as their Champion for 4 years. She must follow every order she is given. If she losses Celaena will be sent back to the Salt Mines to await her inevitable death.

The Letter Bearer

The Letter Bearer by Robert Allison is an adult, historical fiction novel set in
 World War II.

We join the main character, The Rider, waking up from unconsciousness. He finds himself injured, stranded in the middle of an African Desert, alone. The only thing The Rider is aware of is the carnage around him.

The Scorch Trails

The Scorch Trails by James Dashner is the second novel in The Maze Runner Trilogy. This trilogy focuses on a group of young people who are being put through different trails to help discover a cure for a disease which is threatening the human race.

As this book is the second of a trilogy I will mainly be talking about my thoughts around this book and less about the content. Want to avoid spoilers for new readers to the trilogy.


I gave The Scorch Trails a 4/5 stars. Some points that really stood out to me in this book was the world. I really enjoyed the environment the group

July Wrap Up

Mosquitoland

Mosquitoland by David Arnold is a Young Adult, roadtrip based novel.

The book joins the main character Mim Malone, having difficulties with her Dad and Mum splitting up and a new Step Mum being on the scene. Mim, who is living with her Dad, overhears one day her Mum is ill and this leads to Mim hopping on a Greyhound bus to find her.
